Hi everyone, I would like to introduce myself. My name is Rob and Im from Texas, I am new to soaping, I have been interested in doing this for the last year and with my career change have found I have more time to pursue it. I am a bit of a diy'r. The ability to make not only cool looking soap but soaps that have unique smells and characteristics is something that has my interest. I am actually a homebrewer as well and thought this would be something that I could enjoy between brewing batches of my own beer. I look forward to any help and advise people can give me as I start this new hobby.

Hi and welcome!
I brew as well (but haven't in ages and need to get back into it), and you are right - there are so many similarities. Theres certain rules that you really do have to follow or very bad things happen, and other aspects you can play with as much as you like. Heh, and they both need a good long cure and patience is necessary :p

Welcome! Once you learn to make the soap I think you'll be hooked! I'm looking forward to seeing your soaps you make with your own beer in the future! It will be nice to blend your two hobbies together once you get the hang of things.

Hey and welcome! As you homebrew, this is going to be much easier for you. You already know to do your research first, use prudent safety measures, and that you may not have perfect soap every time. That is half the battle. And yes, making soap is as addicting as homebrewing. Once you use that soap the first time, you are a goner.

Welcome to the forum. I suggest the following soaping blogs: The Soap Queen and Soaping 101.
