After the 24-48 hour period (whats the name for this again?) Can I handle the soap with my bare hands to cut it and set it to cure? Assuming I wash my hands good afterwards?

You guys?

I have licked my soaps at 10 hours, 24 hours and 48 hours and can say from THAT experience that there's no lye zap left in soap after 48 hours. Having said that, even when I unmold after 12 hours, I've never worn gloves. I know others do.

There's no reason to be freaked-out cautious tho, imo. I mean, wear gloves if you think it's still a bit caustic, but seriously? It's unlikely you're going to feel anything, never mind burn your skin off.
