You know when you go to a salon to get your hair cut, and they put that "wax" on after they style it to chunk it out? Does anybody have a recipe for that??? I look at the ingredients, and it just cannot be that hard.

Mr. Wiki says:

Hair wax
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A small pot of hair waxHair wax is a thick hairstyling product containing wax, used to assist with holding the hair. It does not harden like products such as hair gel, but remains pliable. Hair wax has been used for many years. In fact, a waxy soap-like substance was invented by the ancient Gauls as a hair styling agent and was not used as a cleaning agent until many years later. Hair wax is currently experiencing an increase in popularity, with many manufacturers releasing versions, referred to as pomade, putty, glue, whip, and styling paste.

Ingredients
The following are some of the ingredients typically found in commercial hair wax products.

beeswax
candelilla wax
carnauba wax
castor wax
emulsifying wax
japan wax
lanolin
ozokerite

Recipes
Some stylists prefer making their own blends of hair wax customized for their clientele. Various recipes exist, including some with "secret" ingredients. Many recipes contain the following core ingredients:

1 part beeswax
1 part aloe juice
Ingredients can be blended together in a double boiler and brought to a boil.

Thx! I told the salon owner who cuts my hair that I would see if there was one I could make. I figured there had to be a "special" ingredient or set of ingredients that made it "work". Will certainly try this though!

I made a hair wax that I really like. I read that Shea was a little gunky on caucasion hair, and builds up so left it out. Extra Virgin Coconut was about 30 %, with some Jojoba, candelilla wax, castor wax, a touch of Castor Oil. I added a little gold mica, and it really catches the light. Sorry, it was a while ago so dont have the exact recipe, but the Coconut was lovely in it, which was my main point lol. I read somewhere that Coconut has the best effect on the hair in terms of conditioning.
