Here in my country, we have a popular hair treatment called creambath. Basically, you slathered hair treatment that feels lotion-y all over your head and massage it.

Is it basically a lotion?

it may be a conditioner of sorts but at the same time it may also have oil (s) and some food (avocado) in it // i guess there are different recipes. on youtube there is a video of a lady making some on a TV program. i would say buy a jar/bottle and look at the ingredients and that should give you an idea .

After you apply the mask, how long do you leave it on? Do you just rinse it off? Or does it need to be shampoo'ed out?

Instant conditioner feels kinda like lotion in the hair, but its made to just rinse out.
