Blast it all Rosemary & Thyme Siezes to a beautiful soap-on-a-stick. Bleh...
Red Thyme and Spanish Rosemary @33% lye solution siezes big time!! It is now sitting in the bucket with a lid on it, hoping it will start to gel so I can at least stir and pour it into the mold. I am really guessing it is the Thyme that is the cranky butt

Yeah I bet.. that's a lot of pricey EO.. like what, $50 worth? Did you get a good deal on the red thyme or just have lots to spare? LOL I use my red for therapeutic only and my white for other things. Not even sure I've used it for soaps though.. I should try. Just can't afford to use my red.. I wish!
Is it for something special?

Mine might not be as good a grade but my red thyme smell wonderful. It was very inexpensive at New Directions Aromatics. Somewhere around $35 for 33.3 oz.

As I anticipated it gelled in the bucket so I could stir it and plop in the mold. Might not look real purty but is sure smells nice.

interesting.. red thyme essential oil should be like $35+ for just an ounce. Have to see what they are selling...

At times New Directions Aromatics has great prices. They also have the MSDS sheets and Cert of Analysis. It is a wonderful thyme in my opinion. Is it aroma therapy grade maybe not, I really do not know but I am not using it for aroma therapy...
One problem with NDA you cannot always rebuy. I bought a small bottle of a lime and now they do not have it. It smelled just like a fresh cut lime. NDA is a well known reputable seller

Sorry, I wasn't implying ND is not reputable. I have never ordered from them. What I was trying to say is that out of the sellers I know and trust (as opposed to sellers on Amazon etc) $16 per oz is the cheapest I've seen.....

So ND's prices are puzzling.

Yeah I've heard of them a lot but have yet to buy with them.. mostly because I already have like 7 places for EO and fragrances so don't need another. lol

Also meant no offense.. just curious as our conversation kept going. I LOVE red thyme but I pay $35 and $40 an ounce from my two favorite suppliers for it. That's why I wanted to know more. :)

No problem Aline. I have a feeling NDA buys in huge lots and maybe even buys overstocks. As I mentioned many times an eo does not show up again. Yep, even at Liberty Naturals Red Thyme is 100+ per lb. So far I have only had 1 eo I was unhappy with and 1 fo. Their Cedarwood Atlas is not great. NDA has great prices on Tea Tree and Lemongrass also

i love NDA as well, they have an Aussie branch which i frequented to get the majority of my EOs. always perfect packaging, always satisfied.

btw, Carolyn.. how is the soap? ricing and soap-on-a-stick are my biggest soaping fears! i don't think i can be as brave as you, just waiting for the soap to gel and mold it later on. i like ma soaps pretty :D

The came out okay. Looks like hp. Anytime I have a total seize I always slap a lid on the bucket and let it gel and I have never had it fail me. Once the soap gels you can stir it and quickly get it into the mold, no playing around. I have water discounted I will usually add in more liquid but it usually does not help a total seize. I love pretty soaps too, but I also refuse to lose a 6lb batch. This one is Rustic Rosemary & Thyme :p
