Hi there!

So I made some body butter and the texture felt very nice but after applied, my skin is really greasy and it doesn't seem to be soaking in!

I've made many many batches in the past and don't recall having this problem.

Is sweet almond oil greasy and un-absorbent?

Here is what I used:

Distilled water
vegetable glycerin

shea butter
mango butter
coconut oil
sweet almond oil
emulsifying wax NF

I would love any help or suggestions! Thanks!

You could try adding some cornstarch or tapioca starch to cut down on the greasiness. In the warmer months I use modified cornstarch to cut down on the greasiness. In winter my customers like it - and so do I.

Exact proportions would help if you'd like us to trouble shoot. It might have to do with your ratio of oils to water to emulsifier.

You also should add an effective preservative to your recipe.

Oh yea, I forgot to say that I used Optiphen plus.

34 oz water
1.2 oz glycerin

4.5 oz shea butter
4.5 oz coconut oil
4 oz mango butter
3 oz sweet almond oil
3 oz emulsifying wax

Maybe you need to up your ewax? I may be wrong but my recollection is that on Swift's blog she recommends that your emulsifier (assuming a self emulsifier like e-wax or BTMS) should be about 25% of your oils. You're at a little less than 19% for this recipe.

2-3% of IPM also might help.
