Grapefruit seed extract necessary ?

Could I leave out the GSE in this or substitute?

Lye Water
109g/ 3.8oz Sodium hydroxide (also called Lye or Caustic Soda)
100g / 3.5 oz Water in a heat-proof jug
100g / 3.5 oz Goats Milk

Solid Oils
200g / 7oz Refined Coconut Oil
150g / 5oz Shea Butter

Liquid Oils
400g / 14oz Olive oil Pomace (it’s lighter in colour than virgin olive oil)
50g / 1.76oz Castor oil

Add at Trace
8 drops Grapefruit Seed Extract

Yes, you don’t need the GSE. You should be fine. One recommendation, I’m thinking this is someone else’s recipe you’re trying. Be sure to run it through a soap calculator to be sure the measurements are correct. Errors happen in print.

Not only can you leave the GSE out, I would encourage you to do so. Here's a link to an explanation from MMS about GSE. In my experience, it's pricey, hard to find, ineffective as an antioxidant and unnecessary as a preservative.

PS: Cheetahs are one of my favorite animals... I prefer the natural color tho. LOL
