How many bars of soap does 5940g make

A LOT. lol
Depends on the size of bars, type of mold etc. However, if you use a gram to ounces calculator, it will tell you how many ounces. If you cut into 4 ounces bars, divide the total ounces by 4.

Unless you're in a country that uses metric ... in which case just figure out how many grams per bar and use that for the calculation.

If you are referring to grams of soap batter, it will depend on how big you cut your bars. Most bars are between 100-125 g which would be 59 100 g bars or 49 125 g bars. I think we would like a little bit more info.

The soap container holds 5940g

5940 grams of what? Fat? Sodium hydroxide? Soap batter? The size of a mold?

I'm new to soap making forgive me if these questions sound quite naive. I've read many books on soap process however application is a whole different ball game.
Thank you for answering my question. I appreciate your time.

We were all beginners once. The mold you are looking at is probably too big. Most of us suggest starting out around 500-1000 g of soap batter until you get the hang of soap making and find a recipe that you like.

Thank you MarnieSoapien.

42 141 g bars (5 oz) 52 113 g (4 oz bars). Requiring about 4225 g of oil to create a 5940 g batch. I would suggest you find a smaller and not waste that much oil in case the batch fails or you simply do not like it.
Thanks alot

ONE... But it is a REALLY BIG bar...

Seriously though... If you are just starting out, go with smaller batches... I have found that starting out with 500g of oil/fat works pretty good for the size of my crock pot since it volcanoes slow enough that I would probably have to fall asleep to not catch it in time. I figure you should perfect your recipe in smaller batches before moving to large batches.

Commercial soap bars are around 3.5 to 4 oz in weight each. That means around 113 g if you are aiming for 4 oz each. They will lose some weight as they cure / dry out. 5940 g of soap "batter" would give you 52 bars of soap at 113 g each.
