Hi, everyone, I am new to soap making. Right now I am interested in the melt and pour method. I am waiting for my supplies to arrive. I ordered some from Brambleberry and a few things from Etsy. I'm excited!

Welcome to the forum! I have done some MPs and they are a lot of fun. I only have one mold to work with and wish I had more at times to try different things, but it is what it is. I hope you enjoy your new addiction ;-)

Thanks for the warm welcomes. As far as a soap making addiction...well, I already have a crochet addiction so I guess I'll just be adding something new. I saw the FedEx truck zip past my house and I was disappointed, I thought that maybe it would stop with some of my soap making supplies.

I got home from work and much to my delight I found a big box from BrambleBerry waiting for me on my porch! The wavy soap cutter I was waiting on was in my mail box! Sweet.

I have tomorrow off and the house to myself so I will get down to soap making business. It's very interesting to see what a pound of base and what 2 ounces of FO actually look like. I'm glad that I ordered several different items because the base is not nearly what I expected but 2 ounces of FO looks like a lot more than I expected. It's so nice to physically have everything in hand. :D

Once again, thank you for all of the warm welcomes. I really enjoy checking out the forums for insight, for looking at the awesomely creative soap pictures, and just for fun.

Hi S_S . Welcome to SMF, I'm a new soaper also, I have only made one Soap by myself and One in a class. Enjoy your excitement, The ordering then waiting for supplies, even chasing the postman lol. is another part of the whole exciting process. Enjoy.

Here it is, this is my first batch. I did not add any colors (obviously), I just wanted to try out melt and pour to experiment. It's Coconut Lemongrass and all I can really smell is the Lemongrass.

All in all I'm very pleased with the ease of MP. I need to work on cutting the soap more evenly.

I apologize in advance if this isn't where my photo goes, but to be honest, I find the picture posting rules kind of confusing. I'm not quite sure what goes where.

Edit: I moved the picture over to the actual picture album. lol

Lemongrass can be a bit overpowering, did you mix the oils yourself or was it a FO that you used? Your soap looks wonderful! As for where to post pictures, there is a photo gallery section in the forum where most people post them. Usually we do not post pictures in other areas of the forum unless they are relevant to the topic of the post. I hope that helps some.

OK, thanks for the info, I appreciate it...I'll try to move the picture myself. If I can't maybe an admin will.

Yes, I definitely over did it with the Lemongrass. It's all I can smell - no coconut but I like it. I'm pretty happy with it for my first try. One of my friends is big into aromatherapy and she says Lemongrass relieves headaches so I promised I would send her a chunk to help with her migraines.

I'm going to order some different bases and keep working at it. When I feel more comfortable I'll move onto trying CP.

Yeah, my first try mixing Lavender and Lemongrass for a friend of mine, I put in a 1:1 ratio of lavender to lemongrass and you couldn't smell the lavender at all. I did it again with a 4:1 ratio and it was much better :)
