I am going to try making some salt soap. I have a three pound loaf mold. If I use three pounds of oil and three pounds of salt will it all fit in the mold??? Or do I need to back down the oil (and therefore the salt) to make it all fit? Also can I add a fragrance to salt soap? It never really says in the places I have read....

i will start from the "mold" and work my way back . making soap in a 3lb mold will get hard very quick , to the point that it will crumble when you try to cut it into bars. individual bar molds works easier / better , if i remember correctly i had a little leftover from the #lb mold , i think about a bar or two. if you go ahead and use the 3lb mold then be ready to cut in about 3-4 hours or when you see it is firm and ready to cut after constant checking. as for the amount of salt to use keep in mind a salt soap is high in coconut oil , so what ever the weight of the CO then your salt will be the same [ that is how i do mine / others may chose to go 100% weight of salt to match soap weight ] . keep in mind you have to SF at a higher % due to the high cleaning , the SF can be anywhere from 17% up to 20/25 % [different soap makers have their % that they like and work with ]
here is a link that is a good read to give you a good idea , hope it answers some of your question : http://www.soaprecipes101.com/homemade-soap-recipes/sea-salt-soap-recipe/

No, it won't all fit in your mold. I don't quite know how to calculate the difference but I would would try a 2.5lb batch and have some extra molds on hand just in case.
Yes, you can scent it. I use .50 oz PPO but some people use more for salt bars.

I scent at very light trace, just before I add the salt at trace. I use the amount of scent for the "strong" row on Brambleberrys scent calculator.

Obsidian is right, calculate for a 2.5 lb batch of soap (without the salt), just keep changing the total amount of oil in the soap calculator till it tells you the total amount of soap will be 2.5 lbs. And then have spare molds about for any overage.

I use approx 1.05 oz ppo. Fragrance tends to fade in salt bars. I superfat at 15% to me 20% feels oily and affects the lather

I too scent my salt bars a bit heavier than my regular soap. I do superfat at 20% and use 50% salt. I generally cut bars made in a loaf mold after 2-3 hours tops. The soaps still warm when I cut.

I also scent strongly and I add my fragrance to my salt and blend well before adding it at trace. I think I usually end up about a half pound more than my weight of oils too so 2.5lb recipe sounds good for a 3lb mold.

I make a ton of Salt soap and this is the formula I use.

I only use 80% weight of my oils as salt. A rule you can follow is this;

If your mold holds, say for easy figuring, 50 ounces of oils regularly; take 50 X .80 = 40. So you would use only 40 ounces of oils, not the 50 since the salt does, as mentioned, adds volume. I then take that 40 X .80 = 32. I would use 32 ounces of salt in this batch. These numbers will fill your mold up to where the usual 50 ounces did.

It took me a lot of trial and error to get these numbers!

Works everytime, cut within two to three hours.

I am going to jump on this thread and ask a salt bar question....lol
I made some the other day and used a silicone mold that had 12 individual cavities...It went through its gel phase and I unmolded the next day...they were still a bit soft on the bottoms and left some soap behind in the mold. Can I pop the mold in the freezer the next morning to ensure and easier popping out of the mold? Just curious :)

Yes, and it helps with silicone molds
