When making goat milk soap after mixing the lye into the milk will the mixture get thicker as it cools to room temp? I am doing cold process and I am waiting for every thing to get room temp. Also want to add oatmeal and honey so when should I add this? I have been making soap for a year but not oatmeal and honey. TIA

Yes, the milk/lye solution will get a bit thick. My understanding is the lye is beginning to saponify some of the fats in the milk. Just give it a good stir before you pour it in your oils. I usually add the oatmeal and honey after I add the lye but before trace (emulsified). You can really add them whenever. Might actually want to add it to the oils before the lye in this instance since I think OMH soaps move a bit faster. Good luck.

Yes mine thickens. If you're waiting on your oils.. Put them in the sink in an ice bath. I use I ice baths each time I soap.. Way too impatient to wait. Haha!
But it's also a good way to get things equal.

My lye is in there right now for my coffee soap. :)

And honey I do at light trace also. I soap very cool with it since it heats up things. Figure I could start it as cool as possible.

I usually had a bit of ground oatmeal and honey at a light trace also. I have used both WSP and Natures Garden's OMG and haven't noticed acceleration. (Knock on wood)
