Does anyone ever add extra glycerine to their CP soaps? I know you don't lose it when CP'ing which is one of the benefits versus store bought detergent bars. BUT, does adding any to your CP soaps help?

Thanks

There can be few reasons to add glycerine:

- for HP, it makes a smooth pour
- for liquid soap - some claim makes a milder soap and helps transparency
- apparently helps with bubbles (somebody said it makes a big difference for a shaving soap recipe)
- obviously when you make homemade glycerin soap

Depending on a recipe by recipe basis, adding too much can make a sticky soap.

I add 10% glycerin ppo to my CP shaving soap. It helps to sustain the foamy shaving lather for over 15 minutes, which is very desirable those who 'wet shave' with a shaving brush and razor.

Other than my shaving bar, I don't add any glycerin unless I'm mixing a little bit into my colorants to better incorporate them into my batter. But the amount for that is very negligible, maybe half a teaspoon or so.

Thanks for the responses. I didn't think there was much of a reason to add glycerine to CP for regular soaps.
