Hello all you sudsy soap makers, I finally got an account after reading so many useful posts about soap making here. I am still very much a soap-making novice but I'm practicing and learning all the time. My ideal oil combinations and what I plan my creations around are tallow, coconut oil, and macadamia oil. I'm starting with soap and hoping to get practice making other things like balms, moisturizers, shampoos, and conditioners.

Recently I got practice cracking my crockpot from pouring cold water into it while it was hot to dampen down the smoke smell from the now-burnt soap I forgot about. I poured some apple cider vinegar inside to break down the crusted burned soap and then had the pleasure of having it pour out onto my carpet leaving some stains. If anyone knows how to remove stains like that, please let me know!

Welcome! :)

On the carpet "spot". Oh dear. I'm guessing you mean removing the oily residue from the burnt soap? Or...maybe the brown spot left by the soap/ACV combo?

I've yet to spill soap on carpet, but I have spilled grease on carpet. I used a spatula to gently scrape most of the oil out of the carpet, then covered the spot with baking soda and allowed to sit over night. Did not scrub or otherwise try to rub the stain out. Next morning I vacuumed up the baking soda and then dabbed the remaining with a hot, damp and lightly soapy cloth. Dried by dabbing with a clean towel.

Here are a couple of articles that have other suggestions - hope you get it out!

Welcome! And good luck with your carpet!
Thank you! I will do my best to keep the security deposit for sure

MooMac you sure know how to make an exciting introduction! Hello & Welcome. 😃🤣👍🏼
Thank you! I've had soap brain lately, I think about it all the time so my brain is squeaky clean, lots of energy :)

Welcome! No advice on the carpet, but thrift stores can be a good place to find replacement crocks. I, uh, ahem, learned that from a friend. 😉 🤥🤣
Tell this 'friend's thanks for me, I'll check the local ones out!

Welcome to the forum.:)
Thank you!

Thank you so much! Yes the brown spots from the soap/acv combo. I will give these a try and see if I can make it good as new :)
