Gingersnap FO, used copper mica to color. Cannot wait to unmold later tonight or tomorrow morning! I bypassed gel phase by using the freezer & fridge. Used the last of my NaOH on this batch :-/ BB lye gets dust like at the bottom of the bottle which scared me a bit but luckily no burns. The smell though... I didn't wear a mask and it would worry me you could inhale it easily. I wish I had a chemistry hood vent thing, lol!!

Drag happens :) You just need to have patience - when I put any soap in the fridge or freezer, I give it a day or two (or more, if I can't get to it right away) to make sure it has firmed up enough. My soap tends to be really soft when I don't gel it.

I agree - very pretty swirls. I've had some good results of eliminating drag marks by spritzing some 91% rubbing alcohol on lint free cloth (t-shirt ;) ) and lightly rubbing the marks. It will smooth out light marks without getting the soap wet. The alcohol will evaporate so you don't have to worry about it effecting the texture or scent. Although, a couple of people mentioned they just use water.

I have a tendency to cut my soaps a tiny bit too early, so sometimes I get marks, too. I lightly scrape the cutter (the pastry cutter kind) over the face of the bar to smooth it out right after I cut it. And then I swear to myself that next time, I will wait longer before cutting!

The swirls are pretty, like those pretty rocks ! I can't remember the exact name for those type of rocks but it really reminds me of them and if there's some Orange in there, then it would remind me of the surface of the planet Saturn !

Ok here they are cut! They will look great once I bevel and clean them up, can't wait for them to cure! Love the mica streaks/ color. ImageUploadedBySoap Making1415134899.422932.jpg

Beautiful and great swirls. Just FYI if you want to reduce the mica streaking downward (although I like it) is to turn loaf on side and cut.
