I am wanting to make a 100% coconut oil bar of soap with a 20% super fat. When putting the recipe into the SoapCalc it should water as % of oils at 38%. I was reading a website that stated that 33% was a good place to start. Is this true?

Right now my recipe looks like this with the % of oils at 33% for a 2 lb batch.

Water 10.56 oz
Lye 4.691 oz
Coconut oil 32 oz

Does this look ok? Thanks again for all your help.

Looks good, using water at 38% would give you a couple ounces more water and more time to reach trace. 33% should be fine though since it looks like you're keeping it simple.

In my experience 100% coconut recipes get hot and gel fast (compared to say 100% OO) they are also usually hard and ready to cut the same day. If you wait too long to cut it can be brittle and crumble a little, or a lot.

Have fun.
