i love them too but don't have one either. We almost did but went with another breed

I have a German Shepherd cross "Buster"and he's the most loving dog l have ever had,l have had many operations and when l come home from hospital he is the one who has laid with his head on my feet through the long nights in the lounge room when the pain got too much to sleep. He would stop at the bottom of the steps so l could use him for support . Now he is getting older and has developed arthritis just like me so we are two old crooks and we groan and moan together. I just love him to bits.
My father bred German Shepherds or Alsatians as they were called and l have pictures of me being carried around by my nappy just like a puppy by our top dog Sultan. He would slept in front of the fire curled around me and one of my first memories was of going for rides on his back. Some people are scared of German Shepherds but l absolutely adore them,They just so beautiful in looks and nature and yours look just perfect

Aw your all too kind, I love the story about being carried around in your nappie by a dog. How precious. Some people are afraid of them, because they are big. I have never had a big dog, until Fritz. I always had little dogs, but my boyfriend GS and really wanted another one. So we took the plunge and thank God we did.
Fritz has dysplasia of both back hips and he had lyme disease when we got him as a baby. He does pretty good though, later on in his life it will probably be difficult for him to get around, but for now he is doing well.

Ilovedoxies.....I had a long haired chocolate dachsund. My Mother has two dachsunds, one is red short hair and the other is chocolate long hair. I absolutly adore dachsunds.

My dad bred shepherds when I was a tot. Our old girl Sheena used to accompany me if I went walkies-always got me home safe. She adopted a pet lamb we had, they were inseperable.Funniest thing! :)

In Australia all GS breeders must be certified hip-dysplasia free or they're not allowed registration. And the public is advised to only obtain a pup thru those breeders. Some people are unscrupulous when it comes to making a buck at the expense of a defenceless creature.Sad.

gekko, the people we bought Fritz from absolutly need to stop breeding, they are doing a complete disservice to these animals by reproducing them.

I hear you on that...It breaks yr heart,to see a beloved canine friend in such pain & discomfort.I guess not all dog breeders are animal lovers, which is a hard concept for me to grasp. I don't see animals as 'pets'.They're a part of our lives, our families. We're their humans! :) Your fella obviously has all the love he could ever hope for. :)
