I have Frymaster brand, solidified vegetable oil and was wondering what it is the equivelent to in oils. I'm having a look on soap calc and BB Lye calculator sites but can't find what to type in. I've used it before but I just can't for the life of me think of the equivelent is.

My understanding is that it is palm oil. I have bought some to use as palm but because it doesn't say it is on the label I have not used it just yet. Have a look here:-

Here is a quote from that page -

Copha is coconut oil and makes for great lather, a hard bar, as well as being a good cleanser. Frymasta (the yellow wrapper) is actually palm oil. Supafry (the red wrapper) is tallow

Tanya :)

Tanya, THANKYOU, I had an idea it was, I remember reading the same thing a couple of months back but was starting to think I was imagining it lol. I mentioned on another thread asking a substitute for palm but the Frymaster wasn't mentioned so I thought I must have got my wires crossed. O.K. now that you've confirmed what I thought then yes I have put it in as palm oil and had no problems with it. :D

Yes, Frymasta is palm oil. I was a little apprehensive to use it as it didn't say what it was on the ingredients, but I asked a very well renowned Aussie soaper what it was, and she says it palm oil. It's a different colour to palm that I get from aussie soap supplies, it's more yellowy, the palm from aussie soapers is more white. But I think it is maybe a little less refined or something. Or maybe they don't bleach it? I'm not sure but it soaps up pretty well.

Oh dear, I've been using Frymasta vegetable oil, not realising it's Palm - and saying my soaps are Palm-oil free! Oh what to do...

If you are selling then that's a problem, if not, then not so much of an issue.

This thread is 10 yrs old, please start another.
