Is anyone in Fresno Ca? I would love to be able to watch someone before I begin making soap. Even someone that can teach me in person. Anyone?

You might check for a supply house in your area. They may conduct classes or you might contact your local extension office.

Thanks! The only supply place in my area is Michaels (which isn't really a supply, HA). I am unsure what a local extension office is. Could you explain.

Thanks ISG! I will check that out. Jules, hi I am in tower, hows it going? I just made my first batch and may have screwed up. hahahaha! Crawl before ya walk right.

I am also in Tower, Mckinley/Palm area - happy to find a fellow soaper!

I am sure you did fine, check out the tutorials on Soap Queen, Soaping101 and when all else fails PM me, I am just down the street. What a small world, right?

Really small world. I am on Fruit and Clinton. I have watched Soap Queens videos and actually made my first batch (today) from her recipe. Thanks so much. If I can find more people I was thinking about starting a soap group here in Fresno for meeting and exchanging recipes. I think that would be a fun way to meet others in our area that are into the same kind of hobby. I started out making body butters and creams along with sugar scrubs. When I got feedback that friends liked it, I thought soap would be a good thing to make. Hopefully I like this just as much.

I met another soaper this weekend at the flea market at Fresno High - I told her about the possibility of a local soaping group. :)

She was a wealth of knowledge.

Awesome! I will be going on vacation this Friday for a couple weeks. When I return, I will let you know.

Fresno

I too am in Fresno. I have a source for Lye, Palm oil, Red Palm oi, Coconut oil and Jojoba oil, it is GTF Labs on Wawona. Sadly though, no fragrance oil or color.

Are there any soap makers in fresno?I'm just getting started. I have all the supplies and I'm reading some books but I think it would be nice to have someone around that really knows what they're doing.

I suggest you find your way to the introduction section and introduce yourself. Maybe some newer soapers from Fresno will speak up-- the people who posted here five years ago may not still be around.

I am in Fresno. I would be happy to help. I only make soap for family and friends, so I do not have as much experience as some of the soap makers that sell soap, but I would love to learn more. IM me and we can exchange information.

Fabulous. 2 soapers from Fresno. The OP of this thread hasn't been here in 4 years, so it's nice you found each other. I am originally from CA, so have some small familiarity with Fresno although I only stayed there for a few days to attend a nurse's educational workshop once. Other than that, I only passed through a few times on way elsewhere in the state.

You make a good point. I'll have to try that. Thank you.
