Fresh lemon balmI

I just got offered a lot of fresh lemon balm for using in soap. Is this useful in cold process or does the lye monster turn it dark. Can I use it dry? Need to reply to the free offer. Thanks much, Carol

I used dried Lemon Balm in soap all the time. If you use it fresh it will turn black and get funky. Just a tip for drying. Leave the leaves on the stems until completely dry then strips of the leaves and grind. Just once, I stripped off the leaves to dry and they all turned black. I grind mine in an electric coffee grinder and repeatedly grind & sift until I have a fine powder. Dottie
