Its about time for me to bring my aloe plants in for the winter, I usually trim them up than stash them away till spring. I 'skin out' the gel process it in the food pro and freeze it. but this year i was thinking of putting it in some soap. When is the best time to add it? I was thinking at trace. how much per lb. And is it even worth it? If the lye monster is gonna gobble it up, I would rather save in the freezer. Thanks in advance- kayla

a little more info- I make goat milk soaps with fresh milk. when i serched this topic I got results for aloe powder, aloe juice and store bought aloe gel. Im looking for info about fresh aloe puree, I guess im wondering is it as stable as the store bought options

In my opinion you are better off freezing it and using it medicinally rather than putting it into soap. I expect there are still some benefits that come through, but mostly it would be label appeal. I did mention that this is only an opinion, and mine at that right?

I was in a lather additive swap awhile back and the lather from the soap made with aloe in place of water was not meaningfully different than the control bar. I'd save it for leave-on applications.

your opinion is appreicated

something eles I read is it may cause discoloration, and I try really hard to keep my GM soap off white.... but once I take a notion like this I JUST HAVE TO see it thru. I am concerned that the properties i love about the aloe may not survive, but if I dont try it may drive me mad  lol

I hope you ladies dont think I am discounting your advice, I do appreicate it!

hummm, That is interesting but I was thinking more along the lines of skin conditioning benefit

Oh my goodness, no hard feelings at all. Definitely give it a go if you're willing to let go of some of the gel to see how you feel about it.

Thanks Isg, my soap was already in the mold when I saw your post. But there is a ton of info on that blog, im sure I will be using it in the future. I did a liquid discount of my lye/goat milk so I could add the gel at trace. just sittin here with my fingers crossed.....
