I read on the boards where someone suggested putting the soap bars in a box and adding a cotton ball with FO to help with a scent that has become weak. Anyone tried this?

I have some bars of soap(for personal use) that seemed to have lost their scent after only a few months. I don't know if it was the scent I used or if I underscented ( I weigh and use 1 oz PPO...so that is doubtful). Other soaps that I made around the same time smell great and were made/stored the same way.

I've never tried this trick but it can't hurt.

Sometimes bars that seem to have lost their scent revive once you begin to use them and new surface area is revealed.

I'll have to keep the cottonball in mind...interesting!

I have had the scent revive once you use the bar before.

I would think that *might* only refresh the surface of the soap. I don't see how it would penetrate the bar?

I'll let y'all know. I cut the bar in half crosswise and it didn't seem to matter. Just don't feel the scent is there anymore. Right now I have 5 bars in a box with a cottonball. I didn't write things down and this was a "garage" soap with pumice/poppy seeds, so I am thinking I probably scented it only slightly as I didn't want it to be too perfumy,
