Anyone using a really good one? I'll admit to never having used any in all these years and I prefer softer scents than heady, but all this talk about Lush and their strong scents has got me thinking.....hmmmmm if I could just anchor my lighter scents to stay a little longer that would be nice.

never heard of one, i think some people use litsea to make eo's hold? with fo why would you need one? my frag. stays, but i use 1oz per lb.

The only EO's I've anchored were the citruses. I've anchored Valencia Orange EO with just the eensiest bit of Lemongrass. So far, (3 months) the orange anchored with lemongrass is still nice & strong. The soap I didn't anchor 1 month ago has lost the orange scent.

I've anchored other EO's with patchouli.

I don't anchor any FO's. I just haven't found the need to.

How do you 'anchor' one scent with another without the anchor scent coming through or overpowering the weaker scent?

Orris root is sometimes used as an anchor , it can cause irritation in some people though.

Thanks for that Mandolyn, I have a friend who want some scrubby citus soap, and previous tries with orange and patch weren't good, so I will try this, I might add bergamot too, what do you think?

I haven't tried using bergamot as an anchor, but I have a Bergamot Grapefruit EO blend from wsp. The bergamot seems to anchor the grapefruit well.

It all depends on how much of the anchor you use. When I use lemongrass eo to anchor valencia orange, I only use maybe a pipette full of lemongrass with 2 oz of valencia orange eo.

If I want to anchor something with patchouli, I tend to use quite a bit, because I love patch & want the patch to come through.

Well we made it this lunchtime, a wee while later reached full gel and it just cooling down now. I used a mixture of Lemongrass, bergamot, lemon and orange. Time will tell!
