So, just out of curiosity- what did "we" do before Soap Calculators? Is there a resource that has the formulas on which those calculators are based?

Thanks to anyone who knows the answer.

It's pretty easy to figure out by hand actually. It just looks complicated. The key is to know the SAP value of your oils, then multiply that by the # of grams of fat, add those results together for all the fats in the recipe and that equals how much lye to saponify the whole lot. Then multiply by your lye discount (0.95 for a 5% discount) and make soap.

Edited: okay I haven't had my coffee yet, can someone check this to make sure I haven't missed something?
