I adore the scent of Panteen Pro-V shampoo and conditioner. I always have. I have always been told that it's not a great line to use for hair care, which I always ignored because I a)am cheap and b)LOVE the way it smells. There's just something about it that I can't put my finger on!

Anyway, I only use my shampoo bar, which has been an incredible transformation for my hair type: thin, fine, wavy if air-dried with out product, curly if air-dried with product. I don't want to mess with my version of Genny's shampoo bar because it works!

HAVING SAID THAT (which we all know discounts everything that has been said), I find myself wanting that Panteen smell! I've googled and someone said D&G Anthology La Lune 18 smells similar...but I can't seem to find it as a FO dupe anywhere.

Anyone have recommendations?

I have the exact same hair type (minus the waves) but the shampoo bars I've tried leave my hair flat as a pancake and wanting to stick to my head...lol. Is there any chance you can share your recipe? I would love to get myself off of the chemical nonsense I use now.

Sure, I'll PM you the exact recipe this evening when I go through my notes-but it was the base recipe that Genny posted that I added a few changes to.

I just miss the scent of Panteen, and always thought that would be a great wearable fragrance...so I'm on the lookout for dupes!

I think BB has an herbal essence type smell if that would work for you Liz. And I will spank you of I hear of you using Pantene anymore! ;)

I know, I know...I've heard it since I was a kid! "Panteen coats your hair with waxes!!" I think this is almost as bad as going to the dentist and hearing "when's the last time you flossed?" Which by the way, THIS MORNING (I happen to have a dentist appointment tomorrow :)) Even my husband has been on the "salon" brand for several years and I'm still working on converting him to my shampoo bar!

But the scent of Panteen is what I LOVE! Even though I love a lot of other things, a dupe of Panteen would be sweet. I'll look at Bramble Berry again, but it's that floral, very light musk scent that's really fresh...

Thank you lizflowers42! If I could come up with a shampoo bar that works for my hair, I could save us hundreds of dollars a year! I'm a salon junkie!

Liz, is there anyway you could share that recipe with me as well? I am about to give up on shampoo altogether. I am NOT going to pay $24 for a salon shampoo! I went so far as going no-poo (Baking Soda ACV Rinse), until hubby said, "You'd better not come back to bed with your hair smelling like vinegar." **I don't blow-dry. SO... I've literally been using the cheapest thing I can get by with, JUST to clean it, and I have absolutely nothing to condition with. I can NOT use conditioner. Even a tiny bit leaves my hair feeling, and looking, greasy. I have very thick, straight, dry hair. No body, no nothing. It looks awful. Because of this, 90% of the time I wash it, towel dry it, and just throw on a bandana. I want to attempt my own shampoo bar, but I honestly don't know where to start. I've been reading up on oils and properties (for hair) and am a tad confused. My sister-in-law is a hairstylist, and she claims that anything with waxes should not be used on the hair : jojoba oil, beeswax, lanolin, etc. Also, she is insistent on something called Moroccan oil... that is what everyone at school (cosmetology) is talking about she says.. What is Moroccan oil? Google turned up a possible Moroccan Argan oil? Also, I know that olive and coconut oils are supposed to be really good for your hair, but will they leave hair oily? Apologies if this has been repeated. Last question, I think: Do shampoo bars clean AND condition, and do you have to rinse with ACV afterwards? Thank you for all your time!: )

LOL, if oyu want the smell of Pantene, you could use Joico Moisture Recovery for awhile, it's a very similiar scent... sayin'. ;-)

Sure, I'll message you it! Again, the original recipe belongs to Genny and I just made alterations to it that I was interested in, and it actually works wonderfully for my hair, so again kudos to Genny for leading me down the right path!

As far as your other questions, I really can't answer most of them! :) I just know that it's been working well for me, so I'm sticking to it. My original reason for this post was I want it to smell like good old (horrible for your hair) Panteen...but looks like there is not a FO out there as a dupe :(

I have no idea what Pantene smells like, but have you checked Day-Star or NGC? You might have to email them to ask, but they carry the most dupes that I know of. Ooh, or is there something listed at fragranceoilfinder in the dupes section?

For those of you that want the recipe, original and modifications are all posted in the shampoo bar thread (the one started by Genny that thanks Lindy) Liz and myself posted the changes we made to the recipe posted by Genny. Other folks have tried it and are posting comments and recipe modifications too.

Liz I wish I knew what Panthene smells like. I have been off shampoo since one of my customers said she uses liquid soap (Bronners or mine) and then an ACV rinse. Lindy-Genny shampoo bars are a great improvement over the LS, at least for myself and DH.

The salad dressing smell goes away when the hair is completely dry.

Can you describe Panthene scent? I used lemon, rosemary and lemongrass EOs in mine, it smells great.

Hopefully someone can be more helpful and recommend a couple of FOs you can blend, or something easy like that.

HA, I wish I had a nose for the "notes" but I really am awful at describing scents! Slightly flowery/lightly fruity/maybe a musk??? That's all I've got Green Soap!

I just noticed on NG's facebook page they have a Pantene Ice Shine dupe! I don't know if it's added to the website yet, but I left a comment asking. I love the Pantene scent too, so I'm excited!

I made a shampoo bar last summer and it did not work on my hair, which is dry, coarse, curly, wavy. Do any of y'all have a recipe for my kind of hair? I just want it for my personal use, not to steal your business.
