Hi all the NZ soapmakers!
I wanted to ask all of you where you get your lard and tallow from (I live in Auckland, North Shore). I have never seen packaged lard or tallow anywhere. Where do you buy yours? Do you get it at a butchery? Do you just ask for lard and tallow?
And also, don't buy the Pam's coconut oil!!! It is an absolute mess. The packaging is so bad that you have to pop the container into the microwave for it to open. And it was already rancid when I got to it. Absolutely disgusting and disappointing!!

I get both lard and tallow from my local New World supermarket. It is in 435g tubs. Countdown and Pak'n'Save in my area have tallow (look for dripping), but for some reason don't have lard. A butcher may have it, but my local one just looked at me blankly when I asked for lard.
