Hello everyone!

I made a whipped soap batch last week, with partial success, and learned so much yet again

I used Nizzy's whipped soap tutorial and had a lovely whipped batch of oils, however when I added the lye mix I deflated the batter quite a bit. All the oils and lye were cold enough to start with, however I was soaping on a VERY hot day and also I had added aloe juice to my lye....perhaps water alone should be used?

Anyway, I am quite happy with them for a first attempt. Oh, and note to self....pink ultramarine doesn't seem to stay nicely incorporated in this soap....may need some other pink soaping colour...? The green oxide was fine. Click on pics for larger image.

Hi Tanya!!'
They are fab! Those little cupcakes are exactly what I was hoping to be the end result of my heart cupcakes.
I didn't even think of moulding whipped soap. At least you don't have to cut it, cos that was a bit of a bugger.
Did you scent them? And isn't whipped soap fun, it gives you lots of time to play around.
I am inspired to give it another try now!
BTW, what are the little sparklies on the top? Are they jojoba beads? I saw they have them at Aussie Soap Supplies, but they only come in single colours. I have a big order to put in with them on Monday...

SO NICE!!!

I just did my first Whip (a la Nizzy, as well!) tonight!

How long does it need to set, and should I insulate it??

Mine are Mint Chocolate Cream - I mixed my lye with water but left a little out. Then when I added my soft oils/FO I added heavy whipping cream (in the amount I discounted from the water).

I colored mine, part was left white and then I split the other into halves and colored half with cocoa powder and the other half with mint green mica (both dissolved in a bit of grapeseed oil to clear the clumps)..

Anyway, should I cover/insulate it and how long til I unmold it???

I LOVE your green swirl one, it's gorgeous - did you use a Nizzy mold??

Hi L.O. You don't need to cover or insulate, just out on the bench or wherever is fine. It does take longer to saponify and set up so I recommend waiting several days before unmoulding. If you have read Nizzys tutorial he mentions that a very fine layer of soap may remain in the moulds (that is what I found too) and if you don't like the look of that on your soap then use a small sharp knife to smooth the edges/sides (I didn't bother). Apparently it becomes really hard/brittle to cut so using a wire cutter is best for logs. Or possibly a very sharp knife dipped in hot water.

I waited until I could press the soap with a finger and not leave the possibility of a dent before unmoulding them. The small shapes were 2 days, the cupcakes 3 days.

Yes, the box mould is a Nizzy 12 bar divider mould - love it, love it, love it!!!

It is actually green glitter from Heirloom Body Care - I thought I had ordered mica for something else and I love sparklies, so.....

Because my whip sort of collapsed a bit I got a bit rattled and after dividing and colouring my batter I forgot to scent the pink! I ended up using BBs Passionfruit Rose in the green and Big Trees Kiwi Kisses in the white. Very nice combo in the swirl soap.

Ohh - this is on my list to try, I just haven't gotten around to it yet. Both yours and Outlaws look awesome. :)
Me, three!!! Beautiful!!

How did you make that topping? They look great!! I wanna try this!

Very nice!! I love the look of whipped soap.

I too tried Nizzys way a few weeks ago and the same thing happened to me when I added the lye. The oils whipped up so nice and fluffy, but when I added the lye mixture it never came back to the same whippyness. :(

My soap did turn out but not exactly as I thought it would. Don't know if I'll make it again...

I was actually able to unmold mine today..
The mini ones came out great, only a few lost bits in the mold. Most came out cleanly.

The loaf is "okay" - lost a bit around the edges but no big deal.. crumbled a bit when I cut it though. Definitely passable but not perfect. I want a Nizzy slab mold soooooo bad! :(

However, I'm not liking the smell of mine today.. I used a good portion of lard and it's like you can smell lard even through the FO.. sigh.

Guess I'll give it another shot in the future..

Is this Nizzy tut on this forum?
I'll have to explore it and see how it's done. As I said, it is something I want to try, but have not researched it at all, so it will be a while before I attempt it. :)
TIA

I so love the look of the Whipped Soap - it's on my list to do as well....

You two did an awesome job - as always - keep it coming.... :D :D :D

Those are beautiful!! Well done.

Whipped soaps are NOT on my list of things to try. I'll just leave that to the rest of you. They look great, but I don't have the time.

I'll be waiting to see all your first efforts, though, & I'll be cheering you on! :D

So pretty! topcat I have that same type of mixer, mine's is a Sunbeam Mixmaster. :) Hmmm I'm have to add whip soaps on list of soaps to try out!

Oh Tanya

I shall be there
For elevense , high tea , what ever, have own cake plate and fork.
They are splendid.
About the Aloe Vera I add mine after trace. Maybe that makes a difference. But my thinking was that I didn't want the full on knock out of Aloes goodies in the initial caustic hit. Not a scientific theory just my idea. May still happen in curing any way.
The ultramarine may well be whipped out but I had little effect rom Ultramarine aqua once when I forgot to mix it first with oil which is recomended on the bottle which you may not have known about.
I remember on a clothes dryer once a sign saying "If all else fails read the instructions " Oh how I laughed ,so in the end I remember to do that.
Gorgeous ,gorgeous soaps.

I also did a "Nizzy" whipped soap this weekend. Mine stayed fluffy after I added the lye. I chilled mine over night in the frig. My problem was that some of my hard oils didn't whip so I have some chunks of oil in my soap. :( But all in all, not too bad. It smells wonderful, really held it's scent (starfruit and mango). I unmolded after about 4 hours. I was impatient and they said not to wait too long so it doesn't crumble, although maybe I was getting confused with salt bars! I don't have a log mold, instead use a box so have to cut with a knife. It was soft to the touch and sticky but it is starting to harden after a couple days. I did mine in 2 layers since I miscalculated the amount my mixer would fit. It was a lot of fun to make, like baking.
