Hi all! I was just wondering if you guys would give me some feedback on a recipe I am looking to try out. It'll be my first experience working with palm oil so I am open to suggestions. :) I used Soapcalc to get all the numbers and whatnot.

Water Percent of Oil Weight: 38%
Super Fat/Discount: 5%

20% Palm Oil
20% Coconut Oil 76º
10% Castor Oil
5% Cocoa Butter
45% Olive Oil

Hardness: 37
Cleansing: 14
Conditioning: 60
Bubbly: 23
Creamy: 32
Iodine: 61
INS: 145

Looks like a nice balanced recipe! :) You should be able to reach trace in a decent amount of time too. Go for it!
Most of my soaps are about 20% Palm. Try it out and see how you like it...then you will know if you want to tweak little things like the hardness/cleansing/bubbly by swapping out some of the Olive or Palm for Coconut and upping the superfat. It's all a matter of personal preference, and your recipe looks like it will result in a nice bar!

Thanks Alchemy&Ashes for the speedy reply and the boost of confidence! I'll have to dive right in and see how this batch compares to my usual palm-free recipe.

Looks like it will be a nice mild, conditioning soap. Give it a try!

I also use palm at around 20% most of the time, OO at 40-45% and the rest varies.

That's almost my EXACT basic recipe! :) I've tried a few and I always always always come back to that recipe. It pours beautifully and sets up a bit faster than other ones I've tried. The end product is mild, cleansing and conditioning. Honestly the best soap I've ever tried. You'll love it!
