My mom bought me a brambleberry mold for Christmas and I made my first 5lb batch of soap using it!
It wasn't perfect, I didn't use enough water and parts of the soap burned, I forgot my soap-dedicated wooden spoon downstairs so I had to use the thin stainless steel rod i use to mix the lye to mix the FOs in. The uneven mixing resulted in the swirled look of the soap... but it still looks good, I think
The feel is AMAZING! I've never tried homemade soap before making it myself, and my previous attempt had me somewhat discouraged... but after crunching through several recipes with small changes and finally landing on this one, I see what it's all about! Gosh it's all I can do to not go running to hop into the shower as I write this!! Heehe <3 I'm happy to have found a good base recipe
Here's the soap, still warm in the mold:
And here it is cut:
Unfortunately I was born an idiot, so I used 5 lbs of oil and when I plopped the soap in I realized it wouldn't all fit. I shaped it so it formed a little hill over the top, but then when I went to cut it the cutter wouldn't go all the way down, so I had to force it until he wooden handle screwed up the top :/ Lesson learned! I'll figure out how to make a total 5lbs in mass next time
Whadda you think?
