First time soap making!

I made my first batch of simple soap today! Not sure if I got it to Trace enough it’s sitting in my homemade soap box. It’s kind of jelly and still warm. How do I know if it traced well enough to get firm? Do I wait 24 hours and if it does not set up, can you do anything with the soap that didn’t trace?

My soap generally isn't ready to unmold or cut until 18-24 hrs after pouring. I typically take my soap to a light trace but even if I do a medium trrace it doesn't change my unmolding time. You can wait 24 hrs or even longer if needed.

Congrats! If you push on it gently and it feels like cheddar cheese (solid with just a slight give), it’s likely ready. Hope you’ll post pictures after you cut it, looks like a very nice blue.

Ha! It actually is charcoal but looks blue it did solidify and I cut it and it officially is soap! Not bad for first time! Iam going to try colors and swirls next time!
