What is the difference in texture between translucent (to be fair, it's not actually transparent) soap and M&P? the main reason I switched over to CP was for the opaqueness and the CP texture....is the trans one back to the texture and the look of M&P?

Glycerin may be the key, but to much glycerin will lend to a drippy melty mess after time. Sorry I do not remember the percentage of glycerin that is to much.
To get a crystal clear m&p it needs to be surfactant based. While a lye soap base can be clear it will not be crystal clear. It is also more expensive to make a crystal clear m&p base than it is to purchase the base.

I hope you have remedied whatever caused there to be a panic situation so you can lye calmly and soap calmly!

Wait.. I was under the impression after following your thread before, that transparent soaps were made in HP. And then @Zing also mentions CP...My transparent recipe is also M&P.
Or do you mean your soaps can be used like regular M&P, melted, stuff added and poured?

Yes. HP. I must not have read the original post. Making transparent involves heating the soap and using solvents for transparency. Did I miss something? My transparent soaps are M&P.[emoji5]
My soaps are hard and do not soften or melt away. They also produce little to no sweating unless very humid or warm and even then not much at all.

Lol I just got confused..
I remember reading your post before that you used a slow cooker so when CP then M&P were mentioned my brain shorted haha

Great job Dragonstar. I am a new soaper as well. Here goes a silly question, can you achieve transparency in soaps in cp or hp soaps? I loveeee transparent soap but I thought that was only possible to make with melt and pour and not really attracted to that technique for now. Your soaps look great chicos! Does anybody know a good link to find an easy transparent soap recipe, like for a first batch try?

Hi Hilda. I haven’t been soaping long, but transparent soap using ONLY true cp is not possible unless you are using some unsavory chemicals, I would imagine. I heave heard of and tried taking one of my CP soaps without colouring and melting down and cooking using solvents, but they were never as transparent as my original recipe for transparent soap.
