This is so much fun! I'm working on a hunter's soap recipe -- my first attempt ever at making soap. I used the crockpot and a stick blender -- everything went smoothly!

The only thing I'm confused about is there is was no "separation phase."

I put the crock on high, heated up the oils, then added the lye/water. I put the stick blender in, and it "traced" after about 3 minutes. Actually, I think I overdid it. At that point, it was much closer to mashed potato than pudding. I let it bubble for about 15 minutes, mixed it again, and put it in the mold. It was ready for slicing in 3 hours.

16oz coconut oil
16 oz olive oil
12 oz water
4.8 oz lye

I think it may have been just fine had I not allowed a simmer for 15 minutes. I rubbed some between my fingers at that point, and it like a thick lotion.

Welcome to the forum! :D

Yeah, that's the crazy, wacky world of HP. You may not see what other people have described in their posts or tutorials. I'm sure it will turn out fine. Please let us know how you like it.

We like pics, too. :lol:

Hello mommyray,

That's what I love best about doing HP. Your soap in done in less than 24hours. What did you scent the soap with? And I as well am curious to see some pics :)

Enjoy Soaping,
Michelle

Thanks!!!

@Michelle,

Hey, thanks for asking!!

I did not scent the soap. I just wanted to make sure I can actually make something that lathers. LOL.

I've heard honeysuckle is good for hunter's soap, and that anise is good for fishermen's soap. I've also heard about swirling activated charcoal. It all sounds like so much fun, can't wait to try it :)
