I used a new recipe for this soap which was avocado oil, almond oil, castor, olive oil, palm oil and coconut oil. The only new oil I used was avocado, hadn't used it before. Scented with lemon verbena FO, I didn't have any lavender or I would have used that to match the colorant and I used ultra marine violet oxide, which I hadn't ever used before. I did an in the pot swirl and was fairly sucessful compared to my other tries, just wish the purple was more vivid.

I have to say that this has been the easiest soap so far to unmold, the paper didn't stick to it at all, just fell away almost and it was like cutting butter, dense but easy to cut.

Aw so pretty!! I would be happy with that. I hope my first attempt is as successful! Itching to make a batch but waiting on FO and colours. Plus I have an exam in less than 2 weeks which I must study for, soap will have to wait

It may not have come out the way you envisioned, but that's a very pretty soap, nevertheless!

I use UM violet all the time and have learned a few tricks along the way to help make it pop more. First, I make sure to use enough of it. Basically, I use double the amount that I think I'll need. For a deep purple, I add a touch of activated charcoal to it, and for a brighter purple, I add some neon pink or a little red to it. And to ensure I get the best results from the colorant, I always gel my soap. If I don't gel, the color turns out too pastel-like.

Very pretty soap - Friends family will enjoy receiving it. Lemon verbena is such a nice bright scent; who says it can't be purple? :)

Thanks! I'm kind of OCD and think the scent should match the color, not sure why but I think we have all been programmed that way.

Thanks for the tips! I did make sure the soap gelled but I wasn't sure how much colorant to use so I think I only ended up mixing 1 tsp for that batch which was a 24 oz batch.

Thank you, glad I found a purple colorant at all, seems to be a hard color to achieve.

Thats a good looking soap and the swirl is lovely. I have a suggestion if you are wanting a little more definition and that is to let your batter get just a little thicker next time and see if you like the result.

Great tip, this batter was a bit on the thin side, thinner than I usually pour at so I will have to remember that. Thanks!
