Favorite Colorants, and Why?

Hello,

I am wondering which types of colorants everyone prefers. Micas, pigments, LabColors... I am really interested in trying BB's LabColors, and wonder if many of you have had good results? And if so, if you have any tips? Thanks!

Well, I do not yet know. But I just bought some oxides from BB, and I'll definitely let you know after I've used them, how I feel about them.

Lab colors give nice shades, but IMO are very messy. I prefer oxides.

Oxides are the most 'predictable'. I've done a couple of sample bars with different types of colorants and now lean towards oxides. I don't trust micas unless I've done a sample bar with it (and do both a gell and ungelled sample) before adding it to a whole batch.

I like clays for muted colors and oxides and ultramarines for more vibrant colors.
