Hi, would anyone like to comment on what they think might have gone wrong?
397g rosemary infused olive oil
170g coconut oil
215g rain water
81g cosmic soda

110F

When I added the oils they went pinkish colour then Finished lye heavy.
I used the recipie from The Natural Soap Chef
Thank you

I ran your numbers thru soapcalc and they check out. Could you maybe have measured incorrectly or is the calibration of your scale off? That lovely rosemary infused oil...what a waste! You can save it by rebatching.

Hi, thanks for the advice Roseb. How would I go about rebatching? Sorry..... Newbie

Give it another day or two before you rebatch, sometimes it take a bit longer for the soap to fully saponify. If its still lye heavy after two more days, then you can rebatch.

Darling,
Don't beat yourself up. I've done this a few times and while it's sad to give up the pretty designs you made you can most definitely save the soap. Grate it up with a cheese grater or use a vegetable peeler and put it in your crock pot or double boiler. You will need to add water or milk with more oils If it is a bit
Lye heavy. Add some more oils till you get no zap, it probably won't take much. I sometimes add some milk to rebatch soap as I think that contributes to mildness and bubbles. I've had great success doing this every time.

Good
Luck!!!!
