You know the one where you don't have enough of most your oils/butter? I planned a 50% OO 50% tallow/lard mix but I didn't have enough tallow/lard to make up 50%.
Figured I'd make up the difference with shea but guess what? didn't have enough of that either. So I break out the palm kernel flakes, arrgg, not enough of that either. Thank goodness for my giant jar of coconut oil even if I only needed 1.55oz:crazy:
After countless trips back to the computer to redo my recipe and a note pad that looks like a mad scientist was at work, I ended up with a batch that went from 3 oils to 6, plus all the fun additives.
This one was made with almond milk, ground peppermint for scrubbies, clay just for the hell of it and peppermint EO.
Its a nice natural greenish with flecks and smells wonderful. I hope I used enough EO this time for it to produce a slight cooling affect on the skin.

Who else makes spur of the moment, use all the little dabs of leftover oils soap? This all started because I wanted to use up the last of my deer tallow before it went bad.

It sounds good to me. I really like peppermint in soap and I also use it in the rinse cycle of the washer. Are you going to post a picture?

I didn't do a spur of the moment batch but I did make a batch from leftovers. I weighed what I had left of each oil and juggled percentages until I came up with something which I thought would work. I had some leftover wine and heavy cream which I also threw into the batch. It turned out surprisingly nice.

Ha! my last batch was re-created on the fly when I ran out of cocoa butter first then an oil that just didn't smell right to me (it was only a couple of months old but just didn't want to risk it). Kept plugging into soapcalc what I weighed out to make up for what I couldn't use. Felt like a mad scientist LOL Can't wait to see pics of your peppermint soap!!

I have done the "what" oils do I have enough of dance..It has lead to some interesting but nice on the skin soap..

Glad to hear I'm not the only mad scientist lol. I'll post pics after I pop them out of the molds tomorrow. I did this whole batch in a couple different cavity molds including tiki masks that probably only hold a tablespoon or so. I though they would make good samples or imbeds if they turn out hideous. If I had a slab mold, I could put the little masks on top, thought I might make some colorful M & P ones for that.

I was scrapping the sides of my coconut oil bucket today, then a light went off. I have coconut oil in the kitchen cabinet! Found 28 more ounces!!! Yeah!
