I can smell... but not well. As a kid I had a bunch of sinus problems which required surgery... so besides being male, I just can't smell too well

I have the following 4 scents from New Directions. I'm looking for advice on blends. I also plan to order more from the list below, as they are the ones from New Directions which are in my price range.

I currently have India Sweet Basil, Tangerine, Lemongrass and Pink Grapefruit.

The others on the list are...

Anise Star
Birch Sweet
Blood Orange
Camphor
Cinnamon Bark (Steam)
Cinnamon Leaf
Citronella Java
Clary Sage
Clove Bud
Clove Leaf
Clove Stem
Eucalyptus Dives
Eucalyptus Globulus
Fir Needle
Key Lime
Lavandin Abrialis
Lemon Eucalyptus
Orange 5 Fold
Orange Bitter
Orange Sweet
Orange Sweet Dark
Peppermint Japanese
Pine Commercial

Thank you.

Try this site:

http://www.rainbowmeadow.com/infocenter ... select.php

select two EO's and click on find blend and it will give you several choices. Then click on the blend name, and it will give you the recipe (how many parts of each EO).

You can test the blend by dipping a qtip in each EO and putting it in a covered jar and then smelling what they smell like together. IE if it says 2 parts of whatever EO and 1 part of the other EO, I would use two qtips dipped in that first EO, and 1 qtip in the other.

Maybe you can't smell it, but perhaps a friend can help??

Good luck.

Donnie,this is for CP right?

Im fairly new to this myself, but what I can tell you is.....

*Citrus is fleeting in cp,esp tangerine. Orange 5x is great, can be blended with cinnamon leaf(DON'T get cinnamon bark, its a huge skin irritant),patch, ylang
*Clove bud is VERY strong, you only need 1drop to 10 or more anything else(IMO),so on the one hand a sm. bottle would last a loooong time,& on the other, you could skip it for now.Won't get used a great deal...
*If you want anise go for aniseed.Im really underwhelmed with the star anise.
*Peppermint is good, but leaves a 'tingle' in parts you may or may not want it!! LoL. Aussie p'mint is TDF.
*Lavandin I love. It's sweeter & lighter than reg lavender(and a fraction of the cost!)
*Commercial anything is a no-go in soap.
*Lemongrass-yum!
*Try mixing yr eo's with a little orris-root before adding to soap.Helps ground them a little, esp lighter scents like citrus

*In general,I think high priced, top range eo's are wasted in CP.They're more an aromatherapy thing.I look for good price, country of origin, buy tester size 1st so you can check the strength. To me,there's no point putting expensive, gorgeous smelling eo's,absolutes etc into CP when they have to deal with the lye monster. To that end,I'd suggest having a look around at some other reputable suppliers, check scentreviewboard(IF you can log in of course!).ND is quite pricey...
*One more! :) Some eo's,that ARE more spendy are used at low enough rates that they work out to be very economical.eg:no way will you use as much patch as you will lemongrass(or is that just me?lol)
OK,outta breath now! Hope thats been of some help. :)

ETA: camphor=grannies linen cupboard or vicks vapour-rub.NOT an attractive smell IMVHO!
