Hi folks! So I have really long hair (mid-back) that gets really stressed and dried out in the winter. Scalp gets oily, but ends are dry and actually CRUNCHY. Nasty.

Last night, totally spur of the moment- I grabbed a 1 oz shot glass and mixed up the following:

1/2 oz jojoba oil
1/2 oz macadamia nut oil
5 drops of jasmine essential oil

And combed the whole ounce through my hair- clipped it up and left it on for an hour and a half before washing and conditioning it.

Today- even after using a flat iron my hair is silky smooth. I think it helped a lot with flyaways and even the ends feel soft. I wonder how often I could do this? I'm gonna try once a week and see if it makes a long term difference.

Just thought I'd share.

My hair dresser raves about Moroccan oil, which is just argan oil to us soap makers. It is supposed to repair hair and do amazing things to it. Products that contain it are mega expensive. I bought some argan from MMS to put in lip balms. It is $8.50 for 4oz. Nice oil, I tried it on my skin too.

I would go for once a week and if you notice the dryness returning, maybe go to every 5 days. Winter wreaks havok on our poor hair!

I've used the Moroccan Oil - it is super expensive but AMAZING. Not oily and it can be used daily as a finishing gloss.

I keep meaning to order some Argon oil, 'cos it is basically the same

moroccan oil is a blend of silicones with some argan oil added (and a few other things).

since the argan oil is 5th in order on the ingredients list, after 3 silicones and one fragrance chemical, I have to say there's not much in there and what you are mostly getting is scented 'cones...

if it works for you, that's great - but you may be able to find some lovely less expensive alternatives.
