Yup... I was about to do a new soap making video. Set my mini tripod on a bucket on my counter for a overview of my soap. My daughter said "mom that tripod won't hold your new phone.. It's too big and it'll slip out" I told her not to worry and that I had to hurry because I had already added my lye to the oils. ... A few seconds later I turned around to see my daughter pulling my new iPhone 6 out of the soap batter! Panic ensued... I cleaned the phone off with paper towels and everything seemed ok until I had to make a phone call. Turns out the person on the other end can't hear me :( Why?? Why??? It's like my phones are drawn like a magnet to where they aren't supposed to be!!! It could have fallen into the floor or the counter! Why in the soap?! Thank goodness for phone insurance.

Oh no! Don't feel too bad- my sis has ruined at least 2 phones by drooping them in the toilet. lol

IrishLass :)

You poor thing! And my mum ruined a phone by dropping it in the toilet too :shifty:

Oh, that sucks! Sorry that happened. My sister has dropped 3 phones in the toilet. Knock on wood I've never done anything crazy with my phone. Now, where's that wood to knock on.

I've dropped a phone in the toilet and about 6 weeks ago shattered one in my driveway!! That's why I have a new phone. Ugh... I think my husband is going to ban me from cell phones altogether.

I did the same thing to my bleep at work. I was flushing the toilet and it started bleeping. It was so loud I snatched it out of my pocket to turn it off quickly and dropped it down the loo. I was horrified but it sounded really funny as it was being flushed away, kind of like a fizzy dying sound. I never found out who called!

I'm glad I'm not alone and you all shared (or at least got a good giggle) my pain!! :) I feel a little better now.

Oh no TVivian!! It seems our phones have a thing for jumping into anything wet and yucky that will destroy them. Good for you for having the insurance. I hope you get to make the video that you were going to do real soon. :)

My DH has a phone at the bottom of San Diego Bay. My friend's husband buried one of his in the leach field he was digging.

I know how to dry out a phone when it's taken an accidental swim, but soap batter? I'm thinking it's gotten into the belly of the thing and may not be fixable :( So sorry this happened.

Do you suppose there's a cell phone heaven.....where all dropped/drowned phone souls gather to talk about the stupid humans?

I suspect mine will be there in the future as I sometimes put it in my back pocket. And then...when it's time to visit the little girls room.... forget where it is. So far it's only hit the floor! !

I dropped one in the toilet, dropped another in the toilet, and ran over one yrs and yrs ago. It slips out the back pocket as you're going to sit lol! I'm very careful on that now! I ran over it because my holster for it was on a swivel clip. Well it swiveled around as I was entering the vehicle and the phone fell out. Of course since I was at the door, it fell directly in the path on the wheel, and got ran over and destroyed.
Good thing for insurance!
Also, to make due, if your phone gets wet, put it in the car on the dash for a day or two when the suns out. It helps it dry out fast and can sometimes salvage it. Works wonders here in the south on a 100+ degree summer day!

I put my husbands through the wash on time. I didn't mean to but he had partaken in a little extra indulgence of alcohol one night and got sick on the way home leaving me to clean his clothes and car. I didn't think to check his pockets because I was pretty peeved at the time. Toward the end of the wash I realized his phone was in there. It was supposed to be a waterproof phone but I guess not!

Knock on wood mine never ends up in soap!

Ive dropped my phone into a boiling pot of oil by accident. It didn't end well. My DH has also broken "Unbreakable" phones, more than once. When he got his S4 I was terrified that he would kill it in a mater of days. He was averaging 2 weeks a phone for a while there. He's had it for over a year now and still hasn't managed to kill it. Fingers crossed it stays that way.

My mum has washed more phones than i care to remember. She doesn't believe in checking pockets for items before washing. She also upended into the washing machine my brothers away bag and washed not only his clothes but his phone, his reader and his tablet. :S
