Has anyone used dried safflower petals in CP soap? I picked some up at the grocery store today and then googled. Found a bit of info on safflower powder but not the whole petals. I'm wondering if they remain this gorgeous orange in CP soap, or will they turn brown? ImageUploadedBySoap Making1379378267.084622.jpg

From soapmakingresource.com:
Safflower powder produces a pretty yellow in soap when added at trace. Use at the rate of about 1 - 2 teaspoons per pound of oils.

Haven't tried it yet but search here because I think someone tried it once.

Only one way to find out! :)

Actually, I think I read somewhere that they stay yellow/orange.

Ha Judymoody! I actually muttered those words in my head as I posted this my guess is that they'll yellow and also leave a yellow "ring" of color in the soap around each petal. I don't plan to use much, just a bit mixed throughout the soap. We shall find out tomorrow...

 I'm very curious how this will turn out.

In Germany, they actually call safflower 'color thistle'; because it was used by the early Egyptians to make the wall paintings in burial tombs.

Okay this is a very old post, but I'm gonna react anyway ;D I just made soap with dried safflower petals, and the color really "melts" into the soap. But I don't think I like it... Will post a picture as soon as I've cut it...

Here they are, what do you guys think? Is it ugly or rustic? I can't make up my mind...

I added 1 tablespoon of petals to 1 litre of soap by the way
