This fragrance hates me. Wednesday I soaped it and everything was checked and rechecked because I so like the scent and wanted it to turn out nicely. It never hardened. The same lye just soaped other batches fine and I went full liquid, some water, some cream and some coconut cream. But I don't know what happened. I hand-stirred because I was wary of a floral but it did come to trace just fine. Very slowly, though.

Then spurred on by still soft soap the next day, I repeated the whole thing, everything the same. And major seize then raging gell and I had kept temps down, took every precaution. The only thing I did differently was stick blend because of it taking so long to trace the day before.

I think I saw someone post about no more florals and I'm nearly there. JYH is only supposed to mildy accelerate at best. So discouraging.

I really wanted tos soap it with a little goats milk but had none in stock. Would that help and can I ask is it possible to not gell this scent? Or is that beyhond my hopes. I really, really like this scent and want it to work out.

If you didn't gel your first batch and used full water, it could take several days to firm up. It is probably fine, you just need to be patient.

And I agree with honor435, you can HP and save it.

Soapbuddy has recommended several times on this forum that with seized soap you should just let it gel in the pot and then glop it into the mold.

Yep! No need to panic. Just let it gel in the pot, mix well, then glop into your mold.

I actuallly grated up the gelled batch and made soap balls out of it. But thei first batch that finally hardened I just cut and left in bars to watch what they would do. They look very ashy. I think I might reorder ssome more of the scent and try again. And make it fully gell if it's determined to do that. But I really wanted to stop that.

If you don't want the soap to gel, try putting the soap in the fridge or the freezer; up to overnight. I do it all the time.

Okay, I 'll clear a space in the refrigerator just in case. It's getting pretty cold here so maybe outside on the patio would work, too. the sceond batch was a glop. No ricing at all, though which is a blessing!

It's really a cool jasmine. I do get that waft of an exotic flower scent from the bars and balls in one corner of the dining room.

Suz ihas been very helpful. I just wish I liked Bee My Honey and Rosemary Mint better. The Love's Mystic Spell begs to be colored orange or warm yellow and I'm wondering if it's kind of like Yuzu, which I smelled once and that was very bright and sweet citrus llike that.

Thanks!

I wish I had seen this earlier, but I didn't until just now.

I love Jasmine Yin Hao from OT, too. It's an awesome scent and one of my 'keepers' because it smells so good and behaves very well for a floral. I never have problems with it acclerating or causing weird things to happen at all.

I soap it with a 33% lye solution at a rate of .8 oz ppo. and it always soaps beautifully for me. Gosh, I hope the formula didn't change since I last bought it!

Irish Lass, Suz did say that one was de-phthalated but I don't know when that whole thing was done with all her scents or even if all of them.

I soaped at 1 oz per lb and could cut back a little since it's a strong scent. It seems it wouldn't mind a shot or two of stick blending but not as much as I usually would do like with lavender EO. Hand-stirring did seem too slow for this Jasmine, which I'm very glad of because that means it's not a seizer, not really :) unless the temps were too high or something. I must remember the next time I soap it to have cool or even cold lye water especially with milk in the recipe.

Thanks Maythorn! :)

Yes, I agree- it is strong, and it holds its own for me at only .8 oz ppo. It lasts forever, too. I have a few bars a couple of years old and the smell is holding up great.

So far (at least with the unmodified one), I've been able to soap with it at 120 degreesF just fine. No seizing or anything bad.

I'm ordering some more this week. I just can't stop smelling this soap. I love Oriental flower and island scents. Makes me think about trying Hibiscus Passion, too.

I'm going half goat milk and half coconut cream for some of the liquid this time. I don't don't know if you gell yours, Irish Lass, but I will try again to stop that if it'll let me and it not, put it in the oven to get the whole thing gelled evenly.

I just want to add that I'll be soaping the Bee My Honey and will post results. I got a little extra in the bottle somehow and it seems a shame not to give it a fair chance. It reminds me of OMH but a tad less of oatmeal and milk notes.

Yes, I gel all my soaps. I just like them better that way.

I was making sample soaps today and decided to test the FOs I had gotten from OT, this among them. Would you believe I knocked the bottle over? :x

I only lost a half an ounce or so but boy is that stuff fragrant.

 Oh, no. And yes, very fragrant! I'm glad you didn't lose more than that.

I like dark soaps gelled but some lighter colored ones I like to have as pale as possible. :)

Yes, it's very fragrant. It lasts forever in my soap. I was just smelling a half bar today that I have left over from a batch I made 3 years ago and it's still as fragrant as ever.
