If you get DOS on one batch of soap, is it likely that you will get it on all the batches made with the same recipe?

Not necessarily. It depends on a bunch of factors...the couple that come to mind at the moment:

Where/How they are stored? (Are they in an area where they can breathe, not resting on anything metal, a dry, cool, dark area where pretty much all side can be exposed to air.)

Did you use different fragrance oils with each batch? (sometimes that small variance can have an effect on things.)

Are all of the oils the same age in your batches or did you open a "new bottle" of whatever oils to make more batches etc.?

Certain oils, etc. DO have more of a probability of DOS, etc. as well so it is POSSIBLE that your formula may need some tweaking. It's just not an "absolute."

Probably. Dos has to do with percentage of unsaturated fatty acids, percent of superfat and humidity (higer than 55%). If you make the same batch with these same variables again, then you'll get DOS again.

 I'm gutted - I though I had this soap making stuff figured out :!:
I feel like this is a major set back :(

My recipe is Cocnut Oil 30%, Palm Oil 45%, Olive Oil 20%, Sunflower Oil 5% Sat:Unsat - 52:48

I did use different FO in my batches, and i have opened new bottles of OO and lye with different batches!

I'll just need to keep a close eye on everything!
How long do you have to cure for before you can be sure you wont get any DOS?

I don't think you have so much unsaturated fats that it should be a problem. You might try less superat. Also look up the purity of your lye, 98% is pretty common and would be adding 2% superfat.

Failing all else, you could either chnage your recipe or add antioxidants.

There is no amount of time that will tell you whether or not you'll get DOS.
