Done with brown!

The last of six of my local craft beer series soaps. I am so sick of brown and trying to make different designs in brown, brown, brown!!! It took me a while to make this last one because I have severe umberphobia.

Made with Central Waters Mudpuppy Porter and scented with Tangerine/cedarwood/rosewood/litsea EOs and a touch of patchouli.

To be honest, I never get sick of looking at soap of any sort but trying to think of 6 completely different designs in brown and variants of brown in a week or two is really annoying!

I get you....I have limited amounts of colours to play with, and I'm currently actively trying not to have any green or red mud soaps...

think it's time to crack open one of those craft beers for yourself, and toast that you're done with brown.....for now....

Carabou, I donate soap every year for a local animal rescue, for their yearly auction. As they are in Wisconsin, I thought it might be fun to do a series of beer soaps, which I've never made before because I detest beer. I even got a brewery from the town in which they're located. I wanted to make them as different as possible because if people go for looks, they might buy more. One of the things on my list today is to get pictures of everything I'm donating so I will post the other 5, just for fun.

I know it looks like there are many different colors in this one, but there are only three; the black/brown base, white and yellow. The swirling mixes things up a bit and gives more variety. And yes, my next soap will probably be white with neon accents or something. Holy mackerel.

I wish I could figure out a way to make soap look like it does right after a pour. It always looks best then, I think. Even with gelling, it flattens out a bit. I'm still happy with this soap but if I ever figure but how to keep that slightly translucent quality, I would be in heaven.

The series plus one

Here's the beer series, including a bar from this last batch. I was going to wash the ash off the last bar, but I like it in the picture. But since people don't look at it with such a close up eye, maybe it would look better cleaned up. I'll leave it for now. If people have never used Ahoy Matey from Daystar, it's worth getting some at the next sale. That's the FO of the last one- really nice.

I was trying a different technique for swirling the second one. I'm going to try it again (with bright colors) to see if I can get what I want and see the patterns better.

I know what you mean about the brown... why does everything have to be brown??? Lavender, peppermint, turmeric, vanilla, cinnamon, brown brown brown! Yellow-browns, red-browns, purple-browns, green-browns...
