Just wondering how many of you that sell make the same soaps over and over, or switch it up a little?

I love being creative when I make my soaps and always have a hard time making the "same old soap" over and over. There are a couple I re-do exactly the same (OMH and castille), but other than those, I am usually adding new fragrances and colours all the time. I make 6 lb batches of each - sometimes double - but when they're out, they're out, and I usually make something brand new!

I have made a couple of "best sellers" over, but often have changed the colour or design in them. I just can't do the same soaps over and over. I find it boring!

LOL. So what do the rest of you do?

Well, we're not in the business but every batch is different in some way. We have a couple of base recipes we usually stick too, but are always creating something new in looks to keep from getting bored. We have paired down our FO's from close to 100 (crazy wildness), to less than a dozen that everyone seems to like best. We'll use up our other FO's in candles over time. :)

i am in business and have recently entered the wholesale market. i'm coming to the conclusion that it would be best if i limited the variety because otherwise i'm required to keep a large inventory of a lot of soaps and this is getting difficult to manage given that it is mostly me and my daughter if i twist her arm to help.

i think what i will do is do some different soaps just for my own personal use or for soap swaps and if i am really really in love with them, bring the new soap in and phase an older soap out but to try to keep a limit on how many soaps i will have available at any given time.

I have everything in place to sell , I haven't officially started ,but I have sold some soap . I will be switching it up , except for the basics and unless I find it great seller etc . I think it takes a little time too , to know what sells very well and what doesn't .
Like you, I could not make the exact same soap all the time . I believe once we have a good customer base , they will realize it is the same great soap with a twist .

I will do a little of both. I want to have a great variety, but if a particular kind or scent is selling well I will keep making it because if customers want it and can't buy it from me they will go elsewhere.

I have a line but add seasonal items on a limited basis. It gets boring making the same thing in the same scent. A few seasonal/holiday additions give me something to play w/ & regulars something to look forward to.
