If I make green tea soap - using strong green tea as the water in the lye mix - does the water used to make the tea have to be distilled or just boiled??

Boiling tap water (I'm guessing that's what you mean?) doesn't remove metals (or some city water chemical additives), so distilled is still required.
If your kettle has metal in contact with the water, I would also suggest boiling the water for the tea in a stainless steel or enamel pot, or a jug in the microwave (if you have one).

So I can still use it if I boil it in a glass jug in the microwave?
I was making soap last night and ran out of distilled water and the thought came into my head.
