Hello everyone. I am new here, but have been a lurker for a long time. For years I have mostly been making bath salt scrubs, etc. I have made M & P soap for a few years, but only as gifts for christmas, etc. So it usually gets used right away. This year, I bought extra and decided to make some for myself. I used Oatmeal & Honey Fragrance from thesoapdish.com, as this is where I get my fractionated coconut oil for scrubs. So, I made some with just the fragrance, and some I added ground oatmeal. The ones that I have stored with just the fragrance have started to turn this pink color, is this an issue that I shouldn't use the soap? The ones with oatmeal added have not changed color. They have all been sealed in plastic since I made them 8 weeks ago. Thanks for any help with my dumb question, in advance.

Most Oatmeal & Honey scents discolor because they usually have vanillin in them. Sometimes it will happen soon after making and sometimes it doesn't happen for months. If you don't like the discoloration you can get a vanilla color stabilizer.

Genny, thanx so much. I don't mind the color, it's actually quite nice. I should have said I used white Goat's Milk base. The reason it concerned me, as it was that pinkish/purplish color, that resembles the color of some bacteria. I also thought it was odd that it didn't change in the bars I added ground oatmeal to, just the ones with fragrance only.

It is strange that it didn't change color in the oatmeal ones. Maybe the oatmeal absorbed the fragrance? I have no idea why they wouldn't turn color also.
