I attempted to make some bath cupcakes according to a recipe that I found online... It read for me to pack in the mixture (in mini cupcake molds), unmold the mixture, spritz with witch hazel, and leave out to dry overnight.

I did all of the above, however, after approx 3 hours I went downstairs and see globs of what used to be shaped mini "cupcakes". Has anyone experienced this?

If not or so, please advise what DOES work

Thanks in advance.

Did they expand? If so you used too much liquid. I could have been the liquid color, scent, oil, witch hazel, etc.

Tabitha,

They sure did expand! I very well may have gotten spritz happy with the witch hazel.

Mandolyn,

My house isn't humid- here in Atlanta it was chilly (inside) when I made them this morning.

__________

I think I'll use the recipe again but hold back on the spritzing and keep them in the mold and see if that makes a difference. Thanks for your help :)

you spritzed it with witch hazel AFTER its unmolded right?

I cannot imagine why you would be instructed to do so cause it's mostly water and water activates the chemical rxn ...

Also, if the mix had too much liquid then the cupcakes or whatever shape it is will kinda "slump" as they dry so you might want to back off on that part too.

these are SUCH a trial and error thing.

Yep, step 5 reads:
Carefully flip over the mold and tap the bottom of the silicone mold three times to release the Cupcake Bath Fizzie from the mold. After un-molding the bath fizzie, immediately spritz it with a light spray of Witch Hazel. (If the cupcake crumbles when un-molding, place back into the big bowl, spritz with Witch Hazel, mix thoroughly and pack the mold again.)

I'll try again perhaps with the recipe for bath bombs I found somewhere else on the board.

Can ANY bath bomb recipe be used for cupcakes too? Just curious.
