Is it true that with HP in a crock pot the cure time is 24 hours instead of weeks like CP?? If this is true why does anyone wait for CP to cure? Patience is not my strong suite but the crock pot scares me, and you say the scents are stonger in HP........I'm interested.........

HP is ready immediately to use if you want to however I personally cure mine for a week before use and even longer is better.
I don't know if the scents stay longer or are stronger than CP as I don't use that method because I'm not patient enough:) My scents do stay strong with HP.
HP generally looks more rustic and though I've seen some beautiful ones that you can't tell from CP I think that you get a smoother soap with better swirling and more opportunity for creativeness with CP.

Amanda, I started with m/p then progressed to cp. I have been doing crock hp soley for weeks and would not do it any other way now. I like that it is cured immediatly, no zap. I do wait a week for it to dry out though. But, I used soap this am. that I made last night and it is awesome. I also like the fact that I use 1/2 the amount of fo's or eo's than I did with cp. The crock method to me is easier. You can get great swirls and add stuff to crock hp too. It may not be the same swirls as cp, but the hp swirls are just as attractive. IMO of course ;) Oh yeah, one other thing, I have found my scents are stronger in hp too. Good luck.

In MY opinion, and MY experience - just like CP, HP soaps benefit from a good cure of 4 weeks.

Both CP and HP soaps should be zapless within a day or so. Typically we unmold CP soaps after they are saponified and thus zapless. They are SAFE to use at that point.

During the CURE they become more mellow (slightly less harsh) as trace amounts of lye are consumed, and develop a better lather as excess water evaporates. Both CP and HP benefit from these.

But if you are satisfied that your soaps are their best from the get-go, then lather up and enjoy yourself.

I'll test my HP soaps at a week, but I generally like to give them at least a month, sometimes two to harden up and become milder. I like HP because I'm a tinkerer and have a hard time leaving CP soap alone :) Also, I can find out if I like an HP soap's bubbles and FO much earlier than CP. Still, it becomes a much better soap once it has cured for a month or two, just like CP.
