What's wrong with this one? New at the whole percentages thing. Be gentle. ;)

4.91% avocado butter
4.91% castor oil
4.91% cocoa butter
19.64 % coconut oil
32.47% olive oil
16.37 % palm oil
13.09% safflower oil
3.42% shea butter

Thanks!

hi there! :D

the recipe looks nice and conditioning. i like it.

may i suggest that you round your numbers up or down for easier calculation? (and measuring)

round 4.91 to 5 - 2.31 to 2.5 - 4.19 to 4 etc.

have you run this thru www.soapcalc.com yet?

i would probably soap this on the cool side (around 90 degrees) and use a 2:1 water/lye ratio. (2 parts water- 1 part lye) unless you are using an unfamiliar f/o. lavender or tea tree oils are great performers for new soapers.

if you want it to gel, you'll have to insulate it.

what kind of mold are you using?

how much oil are you working with? a 10 oz batch will behave differently than a 52 oz batch.

just a few things to think about! :D

I appreciate the help, Heartsong. I was getting differen't INS numbers from differen't calcs. Just playing with this thing and trying to get the hang of it. :)

Ok so i've noticed pleanty of folks using the percentages.. I'm horrible at math and don't understand how these percentages work exactly.. i'm looking at the SoapCalc.com link so maybe I can familarize myself with it.. but can you break it down for me in kindergarden terms Heartsong?

I don't like percentages either , but the soapmaker program I use gives the ounce too, you can plug in % and it reads in both.I am not sure if soapcalc does that. The program I use is called Soapmaker, it is a fantastic program , you can play with recipes, store all your inventory, expenses , where you buy certain things from , and it tells you when you are getting low on product. You can even store pictures of your product. No I don't sell the program , I just love it

OOOO I need that, where did you get it from? That would be fantastic for keeping my books and such to. I plan on keeping a records book for when I get into selling things, as the person buys it write it down kind of thing ya know so that way I can keep track easier. That program would be fantastic to have though..
