So, if I realized that my crisco was old AFTER I already made the soap .... what should I do? Is the soap bad? Is it still usable? Thanks!

well...the soap should still be usable....but I would use it up as quickly as possible....stale oils generally equal DOS (dreaded orange spots) and a stinky odor.

It is only in its second week of curing, but no orange spots and the stink that I originally noticed, seems to be fading. I do know the crisco was old, because I happened to check the container later. If I choose to rebatch, is there a certain time window or does it matter? Thanks!

You can rebatch any time you please....it's just a little easier to melt with new soap. That's about it. :)

Thanks! I might try to rebatch even if the soap is technically okay, since I haven't tried re-batching yet.

I know a lot of soapers would rather endure a root canal, but I enjoy handmilling/rebatching on occasion. It's fun, and you have some flexibility with additives and colorants that you don't get in CP. :)
