I made a peppermint CP soap. I use TD and coco powder for colorants. I use room temp lye/water. All went well, soap is good, only thing is that I got this crack on the top of the soap log. Im wondering if it overheat? Once I cut the soap, the crack blends right in.

Hi Spice : great looking soap and colors. you are correct about the crack , it comes from overheating , it is still useable

hello Lion of Judah, great to hear from you. Just wondering, how do you think this overheat? The temp 110 and so were the oils, I usually like working in RT, however, I just remembered that I made some wooden molds and this was the first time Ive used them with CP. Im wondering if the wooden molds has anything to do with the heat. I made a wine soap, CP, that surprised me when I saw a little crack and then this soap's crack was larger. Thank you, Im glad you like the soap.

Yes wooden molds will always keep the heat in more than plastics or silicone.
If you always use the same recipe, I would suggest making sure the soap is in a cool spot next time. :)
It really is a beautiful soap though... crack and all.

Thank you for the compliment, I will not wrap my soap up in a blanket any longer. This is a great forum and am glad to be part of it.
